Co-creating Sustainable Development and Proactively Adapting to Climate Change with Women Entrepreneurs

From June 6–7, 2025, the Women’s Initiative for Startups and Entrepreneurship (WISE), in partnership with SwissEP and with generous support from the VISA Foundation, successfully hosted the Women in Climate Change Accelerator Bootcamp. Tailored exclusively for a cohort of 12 women-led small and medium-sized enterprises, the program offered hands-on practice and strategic exchanges on climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Innovative, Sustainable Solutions from Vietnamese Women Entrepreneurs

Throughout the training course, the enterprises respectively presented breakthrough ideas aimed at sustainable development, running alongside business models directly affected by climate change.

The first group offered green solutions. XSolar Energy and CAS Energy pioneered the supply of solar power “with no upfront investment,” while also utilizing agricultural waste to build circular agriculture, helping businesses both reduce emissions and optimize costs. RecRec and Fuwa Biotech introduced green biotechnology, transforming protein from crickets as well as pineapple skins into environmentally friendly products that meet the demand for sustainable consumption. In parallel, Nguyen Khoi Xanh, VECA, and ECOSOI respectively operate a circular organic farm, develop a transparent packaging-collection platform, and produce recycled pineapple fiber, contributing to the realization of a circular economy. In addition, ABAVINA supports Mekong Delta farmers in practicing organic cultivation and creating transparent supply chains to enhance local livelihoods.

The Vitamin D2 Organic representative shared more about their product and how the company is being impacted by climate change.

While the first group focused on providing green technologies, the enterprises most affected emphasized the challenges they are facing under current climate-change conditions. Specifically, RUECO, VITABA and Vitamin D2 Organic have continuously recorded declining yields and saltwater intrusion, while Moc Truly Hue lost its Ancient White Lotus harvest. These climate fluctuations have disrupted their supply chains, driven up production costs, and made local communities’ livelihoods more precarious. Therefore, by joining the program, in addition to strengthening their sales capabilities and market access, these businesses also hope to gain solutions for responding to climate change, restoring production, and pursuing sustainable development.

Two-Day Intensive Training Journey with Three Practical Modules

Kicking off the training series on June 6, Sales Management trainer Do Xuan Tung accompanied the enterprises in building a professional sales process: from surveying customer needs, drafting customer-approach scenarios, to optimizing distribution channels. The workshop conducted an in-depth analysis of common “bottlenecks” encountered in sales management and provided timely solutions, while also equipping participants with persuasive communication skills to improve closing rates.

Expert Do Xuan Tung provided insights on how to communicate tactfully with customers.

Following the success of the sales module, expert Dang Thuy Ha, with over 18 years of market-research experience, led the session on Customer Behavior, aiming to help enterprises clearly identify the motivations, needs, and barriers of their target market.

Entrepreneurs worked together in groups to analyze key competitors.

Once they had mastered customers “appetites,” the final session of the training course moved on to the Fundraising Strategy module. Over three hours of lively discussion, expert Doan Thi Ha from Beacon Fund—the first gender-focused credit investment fund in Southeast Asia—shared the stages of fundraising and the different funding sources to help enterprises distinguish among them and choose the right one to approach. Most importantly, she emphasized the core message: enterprises can only access successful and sustainable funding when they understand their own capabilities and the “appetite” of their investors.

After each session, entrepreneurs proactively practiced and shared feedback:
“I feel that this training program was designed specifically for me, with content very well suited to RecRec’s current challenges.”
— Bicky Nguyen, Founder of RecRec.

Commitment to Supporting Women’s Development and Toward a Green Future

At the conclusion of the training course, WISE is proud to have 12 small and medium-sized enterprises led by Vietnamese women entrepreneurs completed more than 10 hours of instruction across three pivotal modules, earning positive feedback. With this wealth of specialized knowledge and a robust network of connections, WISE pledges to continue standing by women entrepreneurs and SMEs in Vietnam on their journey toward sustainable development. Thanks to the green solutions introduced at the Women in Climate Change Accelerator Bootcamp, we believe that each women-led enterprise will possess the confidence and capability to adapt flexibly to climate change, thereby building a just, equitable, and sustainable future.
